Scooter Helmet
One very essential component that you are required to wear while driving a two wheeler maybe a scooter or a motorbike is the scooter helmet. The casing which you wear on your head in order to protect yourself in an accident is called the helmet.
A scooter helmet protects one of the most important part of the body that is the brain. Therefore it is always advised to wear a helmet while you are driving a scooter or a moped or a motorbike.
There have been arguments on this key issue and some people are in favour of wearing scooter helmets whereas some are not. But I think there are not many reasons of not wearing a helmet and it is mainly advantageous to wear it.
Keeping in mind the security of people the governments of almost every nation have enforced strict laws and have made it mandatory to wear a scooter helmet while you drive failing which the accused is imposed a fine.
With growing number of accidents mainly due to the carelessness of car drivers who bump into the scooters moving on the side of the roads it has become really essential to adopt certain measures. Also the mobile phone usage has aided the process of causing accidents.
Another reason as to why one should wear a helmet is that bones once broken can be healed but brain once lost cannot be grown again or healed.
A scooter helmet also serves the purpose of protecting your eyes from any kind of debris that may get into your eyes while driving. It also cuts down the noise of the wind that passes around your ear by covering it and therefore one can hear the sound of horns in a much clear way. Thus a scooter helmet not only protects your brain but also protects your face during an accident.
The outer side of a scooter helmet is made of a strong material whereas the inner side is cushioned and it is this side which protects the head. It is this foam which absorbs all the load and shock during an accident and transmits very less force onto your head.
Thus one should never compromise with the quality of the foam used in a helmet because it is the most essential part of the scooter helmet. The foam should have no cracks and dents in it. The buckle is provided in a helmet to tighten it onto your face and it is essential to choose a helmet that does not slide over your head and fits in tightly.
If you do not like the ones that cover your face fully then there are scooter helmets which cover your face partially and gives you proper breathing space. Some helmets are equipped with sunglasses which can be moved up or down to suit your requirement.
A good helmet is bound to have proper pores for the breathing of the person. One should choose a scooter helmet which is approved by the department of transportation. This department test the helmets under rigorous conditions and approves only when they pass the test successfully.
It's better to wear a scooter helmet rather than repenting on your decision of not wearing a helmet after an accident took place with you. Remember it's only for your safety and nothing else. So just as a seat belt is to be worn while driving a car a helmet is to be worn while driving a scooter.
